If you are looking for an attractive place to live or to relax and if you find it important to be in contact with nature and live in a healthy surrounding but consequently you need to be within the reach of main motorways in the region (D5), then Strašice is the right choice.
The town has about 2,5 thousand inhabitants and lies in the western part of the mountain range Brdy and only 500m far from the Protected Area Brdy – the biggest compact forest in the middle Europe sized 20x20 square kilometres. It is located on the border between Plzeň region and Middlebohemian region. You will find here all modern infrastructure you need. From the point of view of strategic location and the new arising protected area is Strašice of quite a unique position. Its location determines the town to become the gate to the protected area and offer its visitors to be their starting point of exploring the natural beauties of the mountain range which is proud to be sometimes called „ The Inland Šumava“.
It might seem that it is necessary to compense the immediate proximity of the protected area by complicated transport. This is not true for Strašice. The proximity of D5 Prague – Plzeň enables you to reach the regional city Plzeň easily and to get to the capital Prague Zličín in only 45 minutes. Also, you can reach the centre of Prague (Hlavní nádraží) quickly, if you travel by train.
If the weather conditions allow it, you can see from the tops of Brdy mountains as far as Českomoravská vrchovina and Čertova pahorkatina in the east, Písecké hory, Blanský les, Kleť mountain by Český Krumlov, Šumava mountain range with Boubín and Austrian Vitoras area in the south, Křivoklát area in the west and Podolí in Prague and high buildings in Kladno in the north.
